The only official collabo they had is the Friday on Elm Street joint which turned out very mid. It isn’t on any DSP (Spotify, Apple etc) because it uses all the hottest beats from other artists. Fab and Clue eventually put out a mastered compilation and that shit goes. Mr Thoro- This morning I loaded up the Friday Night Freestyles that Jada and Fab were doing 4–5 years ago every week. But when you’re riding a trend and clearly not finding your footing on it and it sounds like everyone else rather than sounding unique. There’s a way to ride trends and make them yours Jay is the king of that. I know it’s a business and it’s hard not to think about all that, but for me, it makes them lesser MCs. They put way too much calculation into the process. Having countless interviews saying “I got a joint on here for the ladies, a joint for the thugs, I got a Preemo track, I got a track for my educated brothers” rather than just making music. My issue with both of them is doing their absolute damndest to crossover and trying to be everything to everyone.
It’s dumb to say “Yeah, they were amazing with that F14 but can they fly a Southwest Airlines jumbo jet with crying babies?” They were top of the game in mixtapes and punchlines (F14) when that was the only thing that mattered in rap so those were the voices at the top of the rap game. The skills to fly a fighter jet aircraft are way different and more specialized than 747 commercial flying.

Dudes who never figured out how to make a great solo album because they kept trying to make “joints for everyone” and never really establishing their singular voices as artists because they kept following trends. Marcus Benjamin- Yeah Jada has been on more bangers but they’re both the same type of MC to me.

Fab probably had a dope freestyle over Benjamins and Banned from TV while Kiss was on those tracks. He had fab feeling uncomfortable as hell, haha.ĭejen - “Jadakiss has been on too many classic posse cuts to lose.” Haven’t checked for him too much since.īoogie Bousins - Kiss was drunk and talking big shit lol. Young OG got considerable play from me.īut, reportedly knocking his chick’s teeth out causes him to lose a lot of points - although it appears most forgot. John Gotty- Fab was still making listenable music for a while after he stopped charting. Then again, that’s coming from someone who was checking for Lloyd Banks music in 2019, so, maybe I gotta sit this one out. It’s puzzling people are still anticipating new music…in 2020. Hylton- I never understood how Fabolous still had a fanbase after all these years.
